Comprehensive Guide to Organic Chilli Farming Practices

Climate Requirement

-The ideal temperature range is between 20-30°C -They require plenty of sunlight but high humidity causes fruit rot

Soil Requirement

The ideal soil is loamy with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Organic matter like compost or manure should be added to improve soil fertility

Nursery Management

-Sow seeds in nursery beds or protrays. -Use garliac extract or neem oil to protect seedlings from diseases.

Main Field Preparation

-Prepare the field by ploughing 2-3 times and then mix 10 T of FYM /Acre in the last ploughing

Transplanting

Transplant the seedlings after 4-6 weeks. Maintain the distance of 45-60 cm between plants and 60-75 cm between rows.

Nutrient Management

-Use bio-fertilizers like Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria,as they  boosts flowering, fruiting and promotes root growth

Water Management

Irrigate regularly, especially during flowering and fruiting. Drip irrigation is recommended to conserve water.

Weed Management

Using of mulching practices and by performing hand weeding helps to keep the field weed-free.

Pest Management

Destructive pests like Fruit borer,Thrips and Aphids can be controlled using traps, neem oil and natural predators effectively.

Disease management

Major diseases like Damping off, Powdery mildew and Anthracnose can be controlled using soda solution and crop rotation

Harvesting

Harvest chillies after 2-3 months of transplanting. Ripened red fruits can be harvested at 1-2 weeks intervals.
