Climate Requirement

Soil Requirement

The soil should be well-drained, fertile loam rich in organic matter and should have a pH range of 6.5-7.5

Nursery Management

To grow a successful chilli crop, start by raising seedlings in a nursery on beds or protrays, then transplant them to field.

Main Field Preparation

-Plough the soil 2-3 times -Mix 10 T of FYM /Acre in the last ploughing

Transplanting

The seedlings will be ready for transplanting in 30-40 days. Give proper spacing between every plant.

Nutrient Management

Choose the right fertilizer and apply it at the right time at the recommended dose of NPK at 48:24:16 Kg / Acre

Water Management

Water the fields immediately after transplanting and irrigate once a week or every 10 days, depending on the soil moisture.

Weed Management

Application of Pendimethalin as a pre-emergence herbicide and perform hand weeding to keep the field weed-free.

Pest Management

Destructive pests like Fruit borer, thrips and aphids can be controlled using traps and insecticides effectively.

Disease management

Major diseases like damping off, powdery mildew and anthracnose can be controlled using fungicide

Harvesting

Harvest chillies 75 days after transplanting. Ripened red fruits can be harvested at 1-2 weeks intervals
