Growing Microgreens at Home: Simple and Nutritious

Microgreens are young greens harvested after the first true leaves develop. They offer intense flavour and higher nutrient levels than mature plants.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You’ll need: Seeds (e.g., Radish, Amaranth), Shallow trays with drainage holes, Potting soil, Spray bottle for watering.

Step 2: Prepare the Trays

Fill the trays with a shallow layer of soil or place the growing mat inside. Moisten the soil or mat evenly with water.

Step 3: Sow the Seeds

Sprinkle the seeds evenly over the soil or growing mat. Press the seeds gently into the surface but do not cover them with soil.

4.Activated Carbon:

Cover the trays with a lid to create a dark, humid condition which helps the seeds germinate. Keep in a warm place.

Step 5: Watering

Check the trays daily and water them to keep the soil moist. Once the seeds sprout, remove the cover and place it in a sunny spot.

Step 6: Harvest

In about 7-14 days, when the microgreens are 2-4 inches tall, they are ready to harvest. Cut them just above the soil with scissors.

Conclusion:

Growing microgreens at home is easy and rewarding. Enjoy fresh, nutritious greens year-round with minimal effort, adding health benefits to your meals.
